Irving Oil has announced that its 320,000-barrel-per-day Saint John refinery in New Brunswick will undergo its annual turnaround later this month. The 30-day project, valued at nearly $40 million, will focus on infrastructure replacements, critical equipment upgrades, and thorough inspections of piping and major processing units.

The turnaround comes alongside the ongoing upgrade of the refinery’s Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU), which started in June. This upgrade is a key part of ensuring operational reliability, improving efficiency, and maintaining safety standards at the facility.

As the largest refinery in Canada, the Saint John plant plays a vital role in supplying fuel to Atlantic Canada and the U.S. Northeast. Regular shutdowns for maintenance and upgrades are crucial for sustaining consistent production levels while meeting strict environmental and safety requirements.

With this investment, Irving Oil continues to strengthen its position in North America’s energy sector. The company’s proactive maintenance strategy not only extends the life of critical infrastructure but also supports the delivery of reliable, cleaner fuel to regional markets.
